Back to school advice for Junior Infants to Second class
The following link is from Gov.ie. It contains information on protecting your child from the virus: gov.ie – Protecting your child from coronavirus (www.gov.ie)
If your child is a close contact of COVID-19 in school.
Listen to expert advice from Dr Abigail Collins on what to do if your child has been in close contact with someone else who has COVID-19 in school or childcare.
The HSE have published A parent’s guide to close contacts. This guide sets out what to expect when your child has been told they are a close contact of Covid-19 in school. You can access this at: A Parents Guide to Close Contacts in School.pdf (hpsc.ie)
As I have already stated, please can all Parents and Guardians respect the importance of not congregating at or near the school and that communication with the school must take place by phone or online.
Your child should not be sent to school if.
- they are close contacts of a person with COVID19, are awaiting a test or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19.
- they are identified by the HSE as a close contact of a confirmed case of COVID-19.
- they live with someone who has symptoms of the virus.
- they have travelled outside of Ireland; in such instances parents are advised to consult and follow latest Government advice in relation to foreign travel.
I also ask for your cooperation with any public health officials and the school for contact tracing purposes and to follow any public health advice in the event of a case or outbreak in the school.
Thanks to those who contacted me over the last number of days. Please e-mail me if you have any concerns.
Regards,
Mr Carey
